WOW! It takes a certain kind of person to reach into their wallet and help out a complete stranger. And what’s even better is when that person doesn’t want praise or recognition for their good deed. To me, that means the person is fundamentally good. If we are in a position where we are able to someone else, we should. Because as the old saying goes “What goes around comes around” and you might find yourself in a similar situation some day.

Emily Brisson was recently on the receiving end of a random act of kindness and took to the What’s Happening in (or to) Dover NH Facebook page to share her experience. Her best friend happens to be a Golden Retriever! Emily’s sweet girl was having a tough time when Covid hit last year. She noticed she had barely gotten off of her bed for three days and just wasn’t acting like herself. Emily took her to the vet and found out she had an infection in her uterus and needed emergency surgery. Emily didn’t have all of the money at the time but she’s slowly been paying off what she can. Fast forward to last week, Emily is at the vet’s office so her pup can get her allergy shot which cost $230. It came time to pay and Emily still owed some money for the surgery. She said she would just pay for that day’s visit and continue to pay monthly.

About an hour later, Emily got a phone call from the vet’s office. She was pretty confused as to why they would be calling but she picked up to see why! Turns out, someone in the waiting room overheard her talking about her outstanding balance and paid it off for her after she left; over $200! Emily said it’s hard to articulate how much this act of kindness meant to her. “Stuff like that doesn’t happen to me” she said! Emily was prepared to sell her car if the payments became too much to handle. It’s an amazing weight off her shoulders.

Shoutout to the random stranger at the vet’s office for being an incredible human and helping a stranger in her time of need. I think it’s safe to say you have some excellent karma coming your way!
