There's something about a public garden that doesn't feel so public since not many people know about it.

This one, you don't have to hike or drive very far to get to since it's right in the middle of downtown Portland, Maine off Congress Street, The Longfellow Garden!

Is The Longfellow Garden Private?

Nope. Not even a little bit, though it may look and feel like it is (which I think is its beauty).
Located just steps off of Portland's popular Congress Street, and I mean literally you can see it from the sidewalk, you'll find a very unique wall that almost looks like a bird cage.

If you walk through that "bird cage", you'll find a garden that isn't just any ordinary garden. This garden has been restored back to life by the means of The Maine Historical Society,  and Portland has done a beautiful job at keeping up with the maintenance.

Do you have any magical secret gardens you've been to?

This particular garden is free and open to the public from May through October, 10 am to 5 pm, according to hwlongfellow.org.

The website states that the garden was dismantled in 2007, but thankfully it was brought back to life soon after. And now you can check the place out and enjoy the beauty of such a great place.

Have you been? You should go check it out, especially now that the weather is so nice.

Maybe I'll see you there!
