Yarmouth Clam Festival

Lori and I have participated for the last four years in the celebrity clam shucking contest at the Yarmouth Clam Festival. All four years, we've walked away losers. This year though, we were determined to change all that.

The Yarmouth Clam Festival is turning 50! It is one of the most attended festivals in Maine and this year - they are doing it up!

Our chairs had been set out five days earlier. We were set to watch the 49th Annual Yarmouth Clam Festival parade!

When I first moved to Maine, I did NOT understand a festival based on the clam. Nor did I quite get what a 'clam cake' was. I've been here 25 years and not only get it, but I am in the clam shucking contest at the Yarmouth Clam Festival!

The Yarmouth Clam Festival doesn't kick off in full force until Friday, but there's one event that people don't want to miss and take measures ahead of time to assure they have the best seat.
