The Business at the Former Pizza By Angelone is Taking Shape
For nearly 50 years, Pizza by Angelone sat at the corner of Washington and Ocean Avenues in Portland. In the late 1960's Jack Angelone bought the former gas station along with two others and turned them into a pizza institution.
The Washington Avenue location closed last year and its replacement is starting to take shape.
Monte's Fine Foods will be a grocery store that will sell sell local products and even some imported foods. Pizza will still be served at the location along with some sandwiches. Here's an artist rendering of what the new building will look like when completed.
And here's what it looked like mid-April.
The owners of Monte's originally had plans to open up in May, and now that the weather is about to start cooperating, they may be able to hit that target date. Keep your eye on that corner.
