It's the never-ending debate that has been pitting friends and families against each other for decades. How do you hang the toilet paper, over or under? In the "over" position, the paper hangs to the front.  In the "under" position, the paper hangs to the back.  People have been arguing FOREVER over which way is "right."  But not anymore.

Illustrations have surfaced from the original patent for toilet paper that date back to 1891. A man named Seth Wheeler is responsible for bringing toilet paper to the masses and in his illustrations the toilet paper hangs forward OVER the roll, not under, indicating that's how it's meant to be used. Wheeler’s Albany Perforated Wrapping Paper Company was the first in the world to make perforated toilet paper, originally patenting that idea in 1871 before the 1891 patent added the roll aspect.
