The UMaine Black Bears will be shorthanded Saturday when the Vermont Catamounts visit for the last regular season game because 4 members of the Women's Hockey Team were suspended indefinitely. This is a must win game for the Black Bears if they want to advance to 8th place in the division.

Bangor Daily News is reporting that the 4 women, senior captain Alyson Matteau, senior assistant captain Cailey Hutchison, junior defenseman Brittany Kucera and sophomore defenseman Maggie Blair have all been suspended for alleged violations of the student athlete code of conduct.

Maggie Blair was arrested by Orono Police on suspicion of operating under the influence of intoxicants. In a separate incident, Hutchison, Matteau and Kucera weren't arrested but were reportedly involved in an altercation at a restaurant and bar.

University of Maine spokeswoman Margaret Nagle confirmed the suspensions in an email and added “All four cases have been referred to UMaine’s Student Conduct Office in the Division of Student Life. UMaine does not comment on student conduct proceedings.”
