Westbrook, Maine, Police Reveal the Hilarious and Delicious ‘Survival Kit’ They Received
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from Stephen King, it's that things can get a little scary in towns like Westbrook, Maine. But the officers who patrol these mean streets can breathe just a little easier thanks to some brave boys and girls.
After they were treated to a visit from the Westbrook Police Department’s K9 Unit, students at the Toddle Inn Daycare felt like returning the favor. In fact, they provided officers with a survival kit.
According to a post on the Westbrook PD’s Facebook page, officers were given Lifesavers, Starburst, Payday candy, gum, a Peppermint Patty, Mounds candy, Snickers, and a pen and paper.
Thought went into each item, as well. For instance, Lifesavers were to remind the officers of every time they’ve been one, Starburst were for the burst of energy that they need, and Payday was since the officers were not doing it for the money.
Gum was to “help everyone stick together”, peppermint patty for keeping their cool, and Mounds for the mounds of courage they show.
And perhaps most importantly, Snickers for keeping a good sense of humor.
Officers also commented that they were given Motrin by the children, as well as what I assume were sketches of the area’s Most Wanted.
As for Officer Tony, fear not: the K9 was given his own survival kit as well, comprised of Beggin’ strips and chew toys. McGruff would be proud.
The post drew a number of responses from residents, with Tony receiving much of the praise. As Jessica Fletcher taught us, you never know what crime lurks in Maine…
