For over 30 years the building at 48 Free Street in Portland was home to "The Blueprint Mural." The mural was painted by Scarborough artist Chris Denison in 1986 and was one of my favorite buildings to re-discover every time I came to Portland, because let's face it, we're not always thinking about the sides of buildings. Denison has also painted buildings in Tommy's Park.

One day last month I noticed scaffolding covering the mural and I thought; "They better not remove that!"  Well, they did. And a piece of history in Portland may be gone forever. Although artist Chris Denison has offered to repaint the mural, he says he hasn't heard back from the owners of the building yet.

Turns out there is significant moisture damage in the building and there was no choice but to remove the mural.
