Get Ready to Dance: ZOOTZ Returns to Portland, Maine for One Night Only
In the 80s and 90s, there was only one place to go in Portland when you wanted to hang out and dance with the coolest crowd in Southern Maine. You've likely heard the name ZOOTZ even if you have never set foot in the door. It was something special and unique that hasn't been matched since and it is having its annual reunion on November 30.
Kris Clark was the founder, owner, and operator of Zootz and he knew exactly what Portland needed: An LGBTQ-friendly place where you could be the person you wanted to be. It was a place to dance and make friends and those who were regulars felt at home there.
ZOOTZ also had some bands perform that have gone on to some massive success, like Smashing Pumpkins, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and the Rustic Overtones.
Kris is bringing ZOOTZ back once again, for his annual reunion for one night only at SPACE on Congress Street. Two vibrant rooms filled with energy, music, and dancing, and five DJs who will keep everyone moving. If you never were lucky enough to feel the vibe of ZOOTZ, this is your chance.
Remember, this is for one night only...at least until they do it again next year.
Put an event in for the ZOOTZ reunion in your calendar app and take a trip back in time to ZOOTZ on Saturday, November 30 at 7:30 p.m. at SPACE at 540 Congress Street in Portland.
This sounds like it will be a night to remember.
