With a shutdown of Maine's government looming on the horizon, a Maine credit union is stepping to the plate to lend a financial hand to the thousands of state employees that would be out of work.

If the Maine State Government should shut down, cPort Credit Union will allow mebers who are state employees and have loans through them to miss a monthly payment without penalty. In addition, they will offer members interest-free loans in the amount of the member's pay for a month. No credit check will be made as these are interest-free loans.

cPort was formerly the Government Employees Credit Union of Maine, so there are plenty of members who will benefit from this generosity. Let's hope it doesn't come down to that though, but it's nice to know that someone has our Maine employees backs.
