If you're a fan of the Harry Potter series, you know there's plenty of strange, weird and unusual food and beverage consumed by the staff and students at Hogwarts. One of the most intriguing and sought after items is butterbeer, a foamy concoction that Potter fans manage to somehow taste through the pages of books.
But if you're tired of just imagining or can't afford to hop on a plane down to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando, perhaps a bar in Portland can help you out.
Shared on Facebook by The Yard, they've unveiled their version of butterbeer, available for all wizards and muggles alike.
But before you toss a barf emoji on this inevitable Facebook post because butter and beer don't mix, let's try to explain what you can expect when you take a sip of butterbeer.
You may notice The Yard refers to it as a cocktail instead of beer. That's because while it may look like a beer, it's a sweet, delicious mix of some very warm flavors. Typically butterbeer is made with cream soda as the base element and its mixed with either butter extract or a butterscotch flavoring. The creamy coloring and the floating illusion of a freshly poured pint of beer comes from heavy cream that has been whipped to a certain consistency.
Since The Yard is selling this as a cocktail, you can reasonably expect they're adding a spirit or two to the mix for a little extra warmth during these cold winter months. Perfect for feeling magical.
