
Portland, Maine, Pasta Restaurant and Wine Bar Abbiocco Closes for Good
Abbiocco in Portland, Maine, has sadly closed for good.
The Italian spot, which served up fresh handmade pasta and "an inviting glass of wine," first opened in October 2025.
Now, just six months later, the restaurant shared on Instagram that it was no longer in business.
When Does Abbiocco in Portland, Maine, Close?
In a social media post, Abbiocco announced that it was closing as of April 22, 2026.
The restaurant had taken over the place previously occupied by Sissle & Daughters at 634 Forest Avenue.
Owner and chef Cole Curcio didn't share the reason for the closing, but he did make sure to call out the customers, staff, and his family for being a part of this particular chapter of his journey.
He said in the Instagram post, "Over the past six months, you filled my dining room with laughter, celebration, and support in ways I’ll never forget. What started as a vision became something real because of all of you, my guests, my community, and everyone who walked through the doors."
Customers React to Abbiocco in Portland, Maine, Closing
According to an Instagram post, Abbiocco was "inspired by the vintage charm of Italy, the warmth of a family table, and the simplicity of Maine life."
The pasta-and-wine-focused eatery had garnered a 4.2 out of 5 rating on Google, with some reviews saying it was "intimate and charming, a cozy spot that feels instantly welcoming" and had "food [that] was outstanding."
So it's no surprise to see some disappointed reactions from people over the closing.

While it's unfortunate that this new spot had to close so soon, there is a slight silver lining.
Curcio concluded his announcement by sharing this won't be the last you see of him: "This isn’t goodbye, it’s just the end of this iteration. I’ll be back, and I can’t wait to welcome you again."
So while we can certainly miss getting some fresh pasta in Portland at Abbiocco, we can also be excited for what the next chapter may be.
