They closed in 2019 after 65 years, and they are back!

In 2019, Anjon’s co-owner John DiSanto told the Portland Press Herald that increased competition in the area had put the squeeze on them. Plus, in 2017, the restaurant had a tough time with unpaid taxes. And on top of that, the family’s patriarch was seriously ill.

If you've ever had the pleasure of Anjon's red sauce on a clear night watching the sunset over the Scarborough marsh, you know this was truly missed. Plus, it was a Maine icon.

John DiSanto made the announcement on Facebook that they are coming back!

...paint the building, inside and out, new point of sale system, pave parking lot, pots, pans, dishes and glassware etc. etc.anyone willing to help me will get VIP treatment for reservations and seating plus your money back at the end of the summer.

John says that he is shooting for mid-June, specifically Saturday, June 15. He's not sure if he can make it, but he's gonna give it his best shot! He missed the place, the people, and making great Italian dishes that leave you craving it again. Anjon's eggplant parmesan was the best!

If you can help John and his quest to open in just a few weeks, he'd like you to private message him on his Facebook page! Or as he said, FUHGEDDABOUDIT.
