If you're around this weekend when 1 million boxes of girl scout cookies come rolling into Maine, you could be among the first people in Maine to get your paws on those delectable treats.

The Girls Scouts are hosting a pop-up cookie shop at Bayside Bowl in Portland this Friday, 2/22 from 2-6pm and Saturday 2/23 from 12-4pm. This pop-up shop is your only chance to get your cookie fix before booth sales in March.

Some awesome facts about Girl Scouts and their famous cookies:

• When a Girl Scout sells cookies, she’s building a lifetime of skills and confidence, like people skills, money management, goal setting, decision making, and business ethics.

• 100% of the proceeds for cookies sold in Maine, after paying the baker, stay right here in Maine to support local Girl Scouts in our community.

• Thin Mints make up for one quarter of the cookie sales, with Caramel DeLites taking Silver and Peanut Butter Patties placing Bronze!

• In the 1920s and 1930s, Girl Scouts would bake their own cookies as a way to be self-reliant and to fund their own activities.

If you miss the Bayside Bowl pop-up shop, you can visit the Girl Scout Cookie Booth at both the Maine Mall and Bangor Mall during the entire month of March. Look for their booth located next to Starbucks!
