This Magical Emerald Green Swimming Hole Named the Best in Maine

As the summer sun blazes and temperatures soar, it's no surprise everyone starts looking for places to cool off.

There are a bunch of great beaches, lakes, rivers, and pools you could hit up in Maine, but there's one spot that was named the best of the best you might want to consider this summer.

Outdoors Wire put together a massive list of the best swimming holes in all 50 states, and it named Rattlesnake Pool in Stow as Maine's No. 1 place to go.

According to AllTrails.com, you'll have to take a "2.1-mile out-and-back trail" that's considered easy to moderate before you get to the swimming hole.

The trail guide website does note that the path does pass through private property so make sure to abide by the posted guidance, stay on the trail, and be respectful.

But once you get to the hole, you'll see why it garnered such a top-tier rating from Outdoors Wire.

Visually, the Rattlesnake Pool is stunning, especially for its clear emerald waters.

NewEnglandWaterfalls.com says that the swimming hole has "frigid waters year-round" but it's the "clean, teal-green colored water" that is the big draw for visitors.

The cold waters will likely take your breath away when you jump in, but it will be so worth it, especially with the hot summer weather.

There's even a waterfall that flows into Rattlesnake Pool, which makes the place even more amazing.

On AllTrails.com, this swimming hole has over 200 reviews with a 4.6 out of 5 rating, so the people who have been think this is a top spot, too.
