Announced in the wee hours of the morning, Brian Boru in Portland is shutting its doors forever.

This was posted on their Facebook page around 2 in the morning:

The Brian Boru Public House announced today it is permanently closing its doors effective 1AM EST on Monday, August 26th, 2019. Brian Boru will be open for regular hours during the weekend.

Founded in 1993, "The Pub," as it is affectionately known by it's regulars has been a landmark in Portland's Old Port for more than a quarter century. Current owner, Daniel Steele, expresses his deep appreciation towards its loyal patrons, vendors, and the City of Portland, for their decades of support.

Holy crap! That's huge news! It's as big as when Three Dollars Dewey's closed. However they reopened. There is no indication of reopening or really why they are closing.

No matter who you are, you have downed a brew at Brian Boru...they are iconic and they will be truly missed.
