Portland has absolutely begun to open doors for this city to businesses we would have never dreamed of having 5 years ago.

We're evolving from the "in the middle of nowhere" stigma to "I hear Portland is going to become the next Boston" pretty quickly.

What about the restaurants or shops that aren't exactly local, but would fit in perfectly if only the city would bring them here? As a well traveled girl, let me give you some examples.

Perfecto's Cafe

Ohhh boy did I just wake some of you up that know the Massachusett's area well. This cafe isn't a chain by any means, but it also isn't a one location only thing either.

Peabody, Tewksbury, Reading, Andover and North Andover (where I went to college) are all blessed with the deliciousness that is Perfecto's.

I think that's exactly why it would thrive in the city. Just homey enough without the annoying chain restaurant feel.

Jimmy Johns' Maine

I am so passionate about Portland finally opening up their eyes and putting a Jimmy John's in somewhere that it actually makes me sweat. I need it back in my life.

I know, I know, everybody is obsessed with Jersey Mike's and that's fair, but that's only because they haven't tried Jimmy yet.

Something about their bread is so tasty you can't explain it, and I won't explain it. Jimmy speaks for himself and he's depriving Maine of having even one location. You might have better luck in your own area though, use this store locator.

WaWa Maine

Here's the thing. There's no WaWa's in Maine nor in New Hampshire, Boston, or any of the surrounding states. So you may not understand the ignorant fun that makes up a WaWa store until you try it so here we go.

Think of your favorite walk-in gas station that also had a convenient store attached to it. You're buying entirely too much candy for your trip to the beach because the selection is so good and you made your own sub in under 5 minutes.

You're out the door again, on the road. That's the magic of growing up with a WaWa in New Jersey and everybody deserves to feel that in Portland. I mean, considering the only thing we do for fun around here is take roadtrips up-ta-camp, it's a perfect fit.

We Love These Veteran Owned and Operated Businesses in New Hampshire

In New Hampshire, we live free and are proud of it! Just take a look at our license plates. However, we are only able to live free because of the brave. We are thankful to the brave men and women who are currently fighting/have fought for our country. Many of them own thriving businesses in New Hampshire today. If you get a chance to support one, do it! These hard working people exemplify what living in New Hampshire is all about.
