Dollar General has announced that it is encouraging stores to devote the first hour that they are open to be dedicated to shopping for seniors.

A press release on Dollar General's website says that the discount store, with locations all across Maine, is "strongly encouraging that the first hour of operations each day be dedicated solely for the shopping needs of senior customers."

Dedicating that hour is a huge benefit to seniors who are the most vulnerable to the coronavirus and it allows them to be able to shop without the rush that retail stores have seen lately.

Dollar General in Maine serves many smaller towns and more rural communities, so this is good news for Maine seniors in those locations. It's up to individual stores to decide to implement the senior hour, so you may want to call ahead to your local Dollar General to see if they are doing so.
