The sink in our house got clogged over the weekend, and not even Drano would clear it. When our very nice landlord arrived and fixed it, we found the problem and it was gross. Let this video serve as a lesson as to why you shouldn't send fat down the drain.

In August of 2013, when London homes started to flood, the cause turned out to be a 'fatberg' the size of a 747 jet. A fatberg is just what you'd expect. A giant mass of fat and grease accumulated in the sewer system.

It took four days for workers to clear the fatberg so get the water and...well...'other' waste flowing again.

If you won't want to be knee deep in waste water, don't dump your grease and fat down the drain. Instead, let it solidify in the pan then scoop it out and throw it away. You can also drain your fat into a can that you keep near the sink and toss it when it fills.

Do you have any other ways you dispose of your fat from cooking? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook and Twitter.
