Don’t Forget About The Nonesuch Brewery In Scarborough
This weekend I tried a fairly new restaurant in Scarborough, the Nonesuch Brewery located at 201 Gorham road. It seems a little out of place at that location, surrounded by houses and with a very non assuming building. From the outside it looks like a small barn, but on the inside it's a roomy brewery with several high tables, a bar in the middle, an upstairs dining room and even an outdoor area. Check out their interactive tour. Nonesuch is Scarborough's first and only brewery and if you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out.
It doesn't scream out at you when your driving by. In fact, if you didn't know it was there you might just miss it completely. Yet it's still just 10 minutes from the beach, and about 12 minutes from Portland. Having said that I can assure you there is no shortage of guests that frequent the brewery, and with good reason. The beer is cold and tasty and the food is amazing!
I ordered a "Blonde" beer and the beer battered haddock sandwich. The sandwich may have been the best haddock sandwich I've ever had. Fresh fish complimented with cole slaw and just the right amount of tartar sauce on ciabatta bread along with a side of delicious fries.
The place is very clean and the waitstaff are very nice and always smiling. I think the only problem is their parking lot. Most nights there's an overflow of patrons that need to park on Gorham road because the parking lot fills right up, but it's worth it! And on those busy nights they offer free valet service!
Nonesuch Brewery is open Monday through Thursday 11am-9pm, Friday and Saturday til 10pm, and Sundays until 8pm.
