The Hilarious New Hampshire Missed Connection Story That Could’ve Ended a Marriage

Two facts right off the bat to get you started.

1) It's Girl Scout Cookie season, so here's hoping you budgeted for all those boxes of Thin Mints and Caramel Delites.

2) The Missed Connections section of Craigslist is a gold mine of comedy if you're ever feeling down (no offense to anyone genuinely trying to find a person they think they fell in love with at first sight that posts on there, by the way.)

And while this has to do with Girl Scout Cookies, it doesn't involve Craigslist at all, but does involve a missed connection at a Hannaford in Dover, New Hampshire, that could've easily gone sideways and ended a marriage (but thankfully didn't.)

A recent post on The (un)Official City of Dover, NH group on Facebook by a woman named Micaela started off innocent and adorable enough.

You and I were both in the South Dover Hannaford chips and cookies aisle this afternoon. I approached quickly, delighted I had bumped into you twice in the same weekend.

It quickly broke down into a bunch of hilarious awkwardness, as Micaela ran through walking up to the man referenced above at Hannaford and started talking to him about the Girl Scout Cookies she had for him in her trunk, and that she would drop them off at his home on her way home from the store.

Micaela went on to detail that, out of nowhere, the fact that the man she just spoke to wasn't in fact her friend Kate's husband, but a total, absolute stranger that looked very similar to him.

So sorry to both ambush you with gregariousness in the chips aisle, and then let you down so swiftly afterward. My bad.

Now, in a day where jealousy can easily run rampant in relationships, a random woman walking up to someone's husband and mentioning having something for them and dropping it off at their house later could raise a lot of questions, a lot of eyebrows, and a lot of confusion.

Thankfully, though, this mystery man struck gold when he married a clearly very understanding wife with a stellar sense of humor, as, after listening to her husband tell the story with what must have been the most confused look on his face, a woman named Sherry actually commented on Micaela's post.

The person to whom Micaela erroneously offered cookies was MY husband! He came home after the encounter completely flummoxed by it, racking his brain trying to figure out where he knew you from. Ironically, we live right across the street from Kate and [her husband] (and now that we know they have COOKIES....)

Mystery solved, cookie crisis averted, and bonus points to Sherry for using the word "flummoxed."
