Maine Brewery Celebrating Anniversary With Droolworthy Pizza

According to Maine Brewers' Guild, as of early 2022, there are 165 active, licensed breweries, and that number has undoubtedly grown in the last year and a half since that last check.

The amazing thing about Maine breweries (and New England breweries overall, really) is that they don't just stop at offering beers or ciders -- they've expanded into offering pub food at their facilities, too.

And one of the Maine breweries that's truly mastered that has an anniversary coming up that they're celebrating in a very delicious and very limited way.

For almost a full decade on Industrial Way, Foundation Brewing Company has become a staple of good people and good beer in Portland. But also, within the last year, they've also added the staple of good, delicious food, after launching their kitchen specializing in Detroit-style pizza last year.

Which makes it all too appropriate that this Saturday, July 29, when they celebrate the one-year anniversary of their kitchen's opening, Foundation Brewing will offer a very limited pizza special -- "The Maine Event."

"The Maine Event" will combine the deliciousness of Maine lobster in two ways -- lobster bisque combined with Foundation's house cheese blend baked into their now well-known crispy square pizza, and topped off with chunks of lobster tossed with a light amount of mayonnaise and chives.

But again, this pizza will only be available starting this Saturday, July 29, until supplies run out. And with the limited amount of these lobster roll pizza specials that will be created, the odds of selling "The Maine Event" selling out quickly are pretty high.

BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery.
