Since 2012, it has been legal in Maine to buy and use fireworks, but before you light of your Pyrotechnic Motherlode, you might want to check to make sure it's legal in the town you're in.

When the law to allow fireworks sales and use in Maine went into effect, towns had the ability to prohibit their sale and use within their town limits. So although it may be legal on the state level, it may not be on the local level.

Make sure you know the rules in your town before you drop that cash on your neighborhood fireworks display. These Maine towns prohibit the use of fireworks at all times without a permit.
