99-Year-Old Holocaust Survivor Brings His Band to Portland, Maine
If there was a living testament to resistance and strength, it's Saul Dreier. He is the sole survivor of his family, and endured the horrors of World War II. He was only 14 when he was taken by the Germans. Eventually, he ended up at Schindler's concentration camp. Yes, the one from the movie Schindler's List.
Despite enduring horrors that we could only imagine, he survived. When asked how he survived, he truly doesn't know, but he knows that music played a major role. His passion for music sustained him, and he founded his band later in life, called the Holocaust Survivor Band.
For one night only in Portland, Maine, hear Saul Dreier play music and speak of his life.
Survival Through Song: An Evening With Saul Dreier will take place at the University of Southern Maine at Hannaford Hall on Tuesday, August 20, from 7 PM - 8:30 PM. The event awill be moderated by Rob Caldwell.

Seeing Saul Dreier in Portland, Maine, is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
NBC Nightly News did a profile piece on Saul when he was a spry 98-year-old. When asked about starting the band (he was 88 years old), he said he had some pushback.
Two people told me I'm crazy - my wife and my rabbi.
I'm so glad Saul didn't listen to his wife and rabbi, and went ahead with creating this incredible band. Don't miss your chance to see Saul do what he loves.
