Ignoring ‘Heavy Loads Limited’ Signs in Maine Could Cost You Big This Spring
You've seen those orange signs... but what do they mean?!
The Maine State Police is warning anyone who travels on Maine roads to pay close attention to posted weight limits this year.
Signs that carry warnings like "Heavy Loads Limited" are temporary orders posted by police or local authorities to limit damage to roadways in the spring that can be caused by extra heavy vehicles while the ground is thawing.
The Maine State Police posted this warning on Facebook to pay attention to the signs... and if you don't, you could get nailed for what they call "a lot of coin."
That's right... the fines for exceeding the weight limit and traveling on posted roads is $625.00. That's one hell of a ticket.
Pay attention to signs if you're using heavy equipment this spring, and be safe out there!
