Cinco de Mayo is Coming Early to Portland, Maine
Cinco de Mayo 2024
Just like everyone has some Irish flair to them every single March 17 for St. Patrick's Day, everyone also has some Mexican flair to them every single May 5 for Cinco de Mayo.
It's a day to celebrate your amigos, amigas, and familia over delicious, authentic (ideally) Mexican cuisine that gets washed down with only the most delicious of margaritas, tequila shots, Coronas, Dos Equis, and other Mexican-related beverages.
And while everyone may be planning for a Sunday Funday Cinco de Mayo this year since May 5 falls on a Sunday, there's a pre-Cinco celebration happening this Saturday, April 27, in one of Maine's favorite cities.
Portland Taco and Tequila Crawl
If you've never been on a bar crawl, it's a completely different and fun experience -- and that's a very literal meaning. Because instead of settling into one bar of choice for a day/night, it's a nonstop session of new views, new menus, and new people -- and that's what the Portland Taco and Tequila Pub Crawl is all about.
Add to it being able to celebrate a bit of the Mexican culture through two menu items that have become the most popular in America -- tacos and tequila -- and it's just a fun, outside-the-box way to spend a Saturday as well as sneak in a little pre-game for Cinco de Mayo the following weekend.
Bar Crawl USA
The event is actually put on by a company named Bar Crawl USA, and what they do is truly all in the name. Multiple times for multiple celebrations throughout the country, according to their official website, they "pride [themselves] on offering the best value and experience to all [their] crawlers."
And this year, for Portland's 5th Annual Taco and Tequila Crawl from 3p-8p on Saturday, April 27, the following locations are participating:
Fore Play Sports, Rathskellar on Wharf, Three Dollar Dewey's, Bonfire Bar, Gritty's Pub, Porthole, Andy's Pub, Rosie's Restaurant, Dock Fore, Flores Restaurant, Glass Bar & Lounge, and, according to the official website for tickets, possibly more to come.
Needless to say, have a blast, make some memories, possibly forget them, but don't be an absolute idiot sucknugget -- snag an Uber or make sure you have a Designated Driver, mmkay pumpkins?
