In all my years since picking up a razor for the very first time when I was 15 and cutting my face to shreds, I have never grown a beard. I've rarely let my beard grow for more than three days. I've decided to change all that and raise money for The American Cancer Society doing it.

I'm participating in No Shave November that raises awareness for cancer. According to their website:

The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free.  Donate the money you usually spend on shaving and grooming for a month to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.

I kind of got a head start since I got lazy and hadn't shaved for three days when I learned more about No Shave November and thought, why not?

As a cancer patient myself, I can understand what it's like to go through treatment. I'm lucky that my chemotherapy did not cause me to lose my hair or cause many of the other awful side effects that other cancer patients have had to endure. Wouldn't it be nice to find a cure so no one has to endure that kind of treatment?

If you can make a donation to support the cause, I would appreciate it. Any amount will do to help reach my goal of $300.

In the meantime the beard will grow until the end of November. I'll keep you updated on how it's filling out throughout the rest of the month. What have I learned so far? My beard is grey. Very grey. I could be in a Just For Men ad.
