Movie Mom says that for as long as movies have been around, she can't ever remember a time when such a huge release was not screened for critics.

Movie Mom will see the movie when the rest of us do. She did interview some of the cast including Jeff Goldblum and Vivica A. Fox. She said that they made it sound like it was really good. We shall see.The trailer makes it seem pretty spiffy.

Then there is a new Matthew McConaughey movie called, 'The Free State of Jones' based on a true story. Movie Mom thought he did an excellent job playing Newt Knight, a white Mississippi native who deserted from the Confederate army and, with the help of both poor white farmers and African-Americans, took over Jones County, declaring it an independent state. Movie Mom says that the theme of the white man hero is politically touchy - but thought it was a good one.

Movie Mom also enjoyed, 'The Phenom' with Paul Giamatti and Ethan Hawke. It's about a Major League rookie pitcher loses control over his pitching and is sent down to the minor leagues, where he begins sessions with an unorthodox sports psychologist. That psychologist is Paul Giamatti whose dad was once the baseball commissioner. That's a cool bit of trivia!

Next week it's 'The Legend of Tarzan' - let's see if they screen it for critics.
