I know, I know, heck, we all know "inflation has been outrageous". And I do know that, but my total at the checkout in grocery store continues to surprise me every single time. Particularly yesterday when I bought all the ingredients to make a homemade, simple creamy chicken soup for the crock pot and my total felt like it made no sense. Disclaimer; I'm only writing this because I really think a lot of you will relate to this one.

Here were the ingredients I bought for this particular recipe. All purpose flour, unsalted butter, heavy cream, garlic salt, chicken breasts, celery, carrots, potatoes, peas, mushrooms, wild rice and sourdough bread. If you've made it this far in reading this article then you're probably calculating in your head what the total to all of this was. The total was $60.23. It cost me freaking $60.23 just to make a home made soup and I think that's absolutely insane.

I'll be honest I love Market Basket. It's my favorite grocery store in our state and I was friggen psyched when it first came to Westbrook. Has anybody else felt the wild reality of how much one little trip to the grocery store costs lately? Our kids will never believe that we used to be able to get a piece of pizza for $1.50 LOL.
