Aerosmith Is Back, So Let’s Revisit Their Legendary Maine Shows
There are a few guarantees in life, and one of those is definitely rock bands making a comeback.
Today's subject is Aerosmith, one of the most successful rock bands of all time. A few years back, they called it quits, primarily due to frontman Steven Tyler's health. But just like birds flying south for the winter or the Cleveland Browns disappointing their fan base, we have another rock band comeback.
Aerosmith is back! Well, kind of.
Is Aerosmith Making a Comeback?
Aerosmith has announced two special concerts with more guests than a New Year's Eve variety show.
The shows are scheduled for October 31 and November 1 at the world-famous Hollywood Bowl and will feature a murderer’s row of rockers, including the Black Crowes, Heart, Run-DMC, Sammy Hagar, Tom Morello, members of Guns N’ Roses, and many others.
This is sure to be one hell of a throwdown, and if it truly is a farewell, then they’re certainly setting it up to be an absolute banger.
Aerosmith has been together since 1970. That means more than five decades of recording and world touring are finally coming to an end for one of the most successful rock bands ever. According to Business Insider, Aerosmith is the 13th best-selling band of all time, with over 69 million records sold. The band's run has been simply remarkable.
Aerosmith also won four Grammys, numerous Billboard and American Music Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2001. And they got to record that song for one of the greatest movies ever made, Armageddon.

With the Bad Boys from Boston getting back together for some huge shows, I thought it would be fun to look back at Aerosmith's touring history in Maine. It's quite extensive, to be honest. Aerosmith made many trips up to the Pine Tree State and played numerous venues, some of which don't even exist anymore.
How Many Times Did Aerosmith Play in Maine?
To no one's surprise, Aerosmith made the most Maine trips to Portland. The band played 12 shows at the then-named Cumberland County Civic Center, easily making it their number one Maine venue. However, it wasn't just Portland. The Hall of Famers also made stops in Bangor, Augusta, Old Orchard Beach, and even Lewiston.
