This Seacoast New Hampshire City is One of the Cheapest Places to Live in the State
Rochester, New Hampshire, Cheap?
Rochester, New Hampshire, was named one of the cheapest cities to live in 2024, according to poncapost.com.
For those of us living in Seacoast New Hampshire, it probably sounds a little surprising that any place in the 603 is considered cheap to live in. Younger people are finding it difficult (if not impossible) to look for a house, especially in New England.
Rochester, New Hampshire, came in at number five among the cheapest places to live in the state, along with Franklin at #4, Laconia #3, Berlin #2, and Claremont taking the top spot at #1 as the cheapest.
The 2024 findings were based on the cost of living (about 8% lower than the national average), median home price, and the average cost of monthly rent.
For Rochester, they found that the median cost of a home was $275,000 and the average rent per month for a two-bedroom apartment is $1,200, according to poncapost.com.
Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New Hampshire, provides great healthcare, and I know so many people who loved going to Spaulding High School.
Hollis, New Hampshire
There are so many towns in New Hampshire that were once affordable. But now, they are considered pricier than other communities. Take Hollis, for instance. I grew up in that town, and at the time, it was not the ritzy community it is now.
Bedford is another town that was nothing special at one point in its history. It was just the little town next to the Queen City.
Once people discover Rochester and its super cute downtown restaurants, shopping, and affordable home prices, that city is going to have a big boom.
What's your favorite part of Rochester? Mine? Revolution Tap Room. LOVE that place.
