Lewiston Police Searching For Suspect Who Set Porta-Potty On Fire
For some, this week has felt like a dumpster fire. For one portable toilet in Lewiston, it literally WAS on fire. According to WGME, the Lewiston Police Department are looking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who set a porta-potty on fire at a bakery outlet in Lewiston.
Shared on Facebook by Lewiston Maine Police Department, the security camera footage of the incident is grainy but within the photos you can see a man in a hooded sweatshirt carrying a gasoline container who rode a bicycle to the address to commit this act of arson. Not pictured is the moment the suspect lit the porta-potty on fire. The Lewiston PD added another possible clue in their Facebook post, mentioning the suspect may have also been carrying a Save-A-Lot bag filled with boxes of cereal with him before lighting the portable toilet on fire.
Another oddity about this incident is the time it occurred. Typically, an arson incident like this would happen in the late night/early morning hours to avoid any potential witnesses to the crime. This incident was reported on Tuesday, November 3rd at 6:40pm.
If you have any information that could help police identify this suspect, you're encouraged to contact Detective Crystal Lachance at 207-513-3001 x 3310 or the Lewiston Police dispatch at 207-784-6421.
