Officials from the Van Buren Police Department responded to a 911 call Thursday night from a man who said he had been shot, USAToday reported.

Police identified the injured caller as Ronald Cyr, 65, who was the homeowner, according to the article.

Van Buren Police said they discovered the home's front door had been rigged with a device that was designed to fire a handgun if anyone tried to enter.

Officers found more "unknown devices" in the house and called the Maine State Police bomb squad, the website reports.

Cyr was pronounced dead at a local hospital from the gunshot wound, police said.
