Maine Police Departments Should Adopt This Hysterical Training Happening in Missouri

Police officers have to deal with some wild stuff so I can only imagine what their training looks like. You can never fully predict what situations they will find themselves in, so training needs to be comprehensive and when possible, hands-on.

A Missouri sheriff’s office in Jefferson County has been conducting what sounds like a hysterical and fun training this week focusing on field sobriety testing.

Volunteers Needed to Drink in Jefferson County, Missouri

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri recently posted on Facebook literally looking for people to drink booze.

The sheriff’s office was looking for booze-drinking volunteers to help deputies receive the proper training for their Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) certification.

Apparently, this isn’t a new practice but they needed to ask for volunteers in the public because it was hard to get ahold of day drinkers and the training was held from noon - 4 p.m. in the middle of the day.

Would this be considered community service in a sense? Could I take the day off of work because I am volunteering for the greater good?

Portland, Maine, Needs to Conduct a Similar Training

Take notes, Portland, because I need our police department to conduct this same training and I will happily volunteer.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office provided beer, wine, and hard liquor and even offered free rides home for those who didn’t have a sober driver. They drank for 1-2 hours then completed a series of field sobriety tests, ending with a breathalyzer test to determine their level of intoxication.

This is epic. I also think this could be great morale-boosting for coworkers to volunteer together and blow off some steam. When was the last time were you able to drink booze provided by a police department and not get in any trouble?
