Maine is no Vegas, and we don't pretend to be. A ranking of most sinful states by WalletHub recently showed that to be more true than ever. The only state that was judged to be more sinful than Maine was Vermont, based on the classic "7 deadly sins": 1) Anger & Hatred, 2) Jealousy, 3) Excesses & Vices, 4) Greed, 5) Lust, 6) Vanity and 7) Laziness.

Maine may have been second to last on the overall list of sinful states, but we took the cake for specific measures. For example, Maine has the fewest instances of violent crime per capita in the whole country. Way to be nice to your fellow humans, Mainers!

Granted, we're second highest on the list for excessive drinking. Listen, Maine winters get pretty long and there's not a whole lot to do when you're holed up inside for yet another nor'easter, okay? And as long as we're not being violent after drinking, things could be worse, right? Okay, so we could put down our bottles of booze... but props to Maine for being one of the least sinful states in the nation.
