Maine #TBT Video: Circus Elephants Arrive in the 1930s
This Throwback Thursday, we found a home movie at Northeast Historic Film from an Ellsworth circus event sometime in the 1930s. "Clark, the Printer" gives us great shots of the city of Ellsworth in winter as he films the results of a traffic accident in front of F.C. Scot's at the corner of Main and State Streets. Also the excitement of the Robbins Bros. Circus train arriving and unloading to the delight of the locals.

Northeast Historic Film (NHF) is a moving image archive, incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1986. They are located in the Alamo Theatre, a 1916 cinema building, in Bucksport, Maine. NHF's mission is to collect and preserve the film and video record of northern New England (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts), and to provide public access to the history and culture of the region embodied in it.
