Working parents in Oxford Hills are going to have to adjust their daycare schedules. Students in SAD 17, the Oxford Hills School District, will get out early every Wednesday in the 2016-17 school year.

According the the Advertiser Democrat, all SAD 17 students will be released an hour earlier on Wednesdays. That means high school and middle school students will get out at 1PM and elementary school students will be released at 2:15PM.

Why the change? In order to meet new state requirements, the district is giving that extra time to staff development. You know those days when kids don't go to school, but the staff does? One hour on every Wednesday adds up to six staff development days and still lets the district meet the requirement for the time students must be in school.

It's a pilot program, so it may only be in place this year.

What do you think about this one hour early release schedule on Wednesday? Does that make it tougher on you? How does it impact your daycare? Let us know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook and Twitter.
