Picnic on The Rolling Pastures of This Maine Farm This Weekend
One thing this pandemic has done for a lot of people is refocused them on the little things and the important things. People have been spending more time with their immediate family members than ever and while it can be difficult, the warmer weather presents an opportunity to finally get out of the house. In a safe, socially distant way, of course.
Memorial Day weekend is looking beautiful and if you and your significant other or kids are looking for an adventure, set your GPS to little Whitefield, Maine.
Whitefield, located in Lincoln County is the neighboring town to Windsor which is home to the famous Hussey's General Store (guns, wedding gowns, and beer, anyone?) and just under 30 minutes north of the beautiful midcoast towns of Wiscasset and Damariscotta. Keep your eyes out for horse and buggies as you travel, there's a growing Amish community in the area.
Sheepscot General is a store and farm in the heart of Whitefield. It's not uncommon to see locals there enjoying breakfast with friends or grabbing some bread or treats from the bakery. Just last year they began offering U-Pick hemp.
They are now hoping to attract people to their farm with picnics with views of cows, sheep, and goats! They are selling picnic packs with brunch and lunch options for whatever time of day you prefer. They have a bagel box with fresh bagels and smoked salmon for brunch. And Sundays only they have roasted chicken.
If you're interested and would like to see all the options, you can order ahead here.
Plan ahead and make a day of it. There's plenty to explore, even in small-town, Maine, while being mindful of safety.
