With school vacation in full effect, the Maine Mall is likely to see some increased traffic this week. With that extra attention, some people got nervous when they noticed that one of the most popular options in the food court appeared closed over the weekend. Its appearance made people believe the closure could be for good. While it may look bad, the good news is that the closure is temporary.

According to the Maine Mall, Sarku Japan is using the next couple weeks to do a deep cleaning and some minor repairs and renovations to their food court location. Sarku has been one of the longest running tenants in the Maine Mall food court, as well as one of the most popular. If you're craving their signature teriyaki chicken, you'll just have to wait a bit. Sarku is scheduled to reopen in a couple weeks.

The fact that Sarku Japan's temporarily closure gained so much attention is proof that the Maine Mall is as healthy as it's been in a while. In recent years, February has been a dark month for closures inside of Maine's largest shopping mall. The past few years have seen large tenants like Sears, Forever 21 and Sports Authority leave the mall. Longtime tenants like Arby's and GameStop have also disappeared.

Rather than a slew of closures, the Maine Mall remains without much vacancy at all. In fact, the mall has seen a handful of recent openings including stores like Rack Attack and Team Spirit.
