Lucky Maine Man Wins Surprise $250,000 from Lottery Scratch Ticket

Fortune favored one Mainer recently after a trip to a local restaurant/convenience store led to a big money win. If only it were you, right?

According to the Maine Lottery, Nick Everett was at Doe's in South Paris when, while checking out, he decided to purchase a $250,000 Cash Stacks instant ticket. After scratching off the ticket, he discovered he had won the top prize for that game.

The Maine Lottery reported that Everett won a quarter of a million dollars. Now that's a big stack of cash.

Can you imagine all the things you could do with that? Sure, the number gets cut down after taxes, but it's still a huge amount. Oh, to dream.

Everett's $250,000 payday made him the top lottery winner in Maine for April 2024, the Maine Lottery stated.

The Maine Lottery also noted that 23 people won $10,000 or more in April, which amounted to $960,002.

We all know the odds of winning the lottery are extremely slim, but it's still fun to play. And if you're lucky enough that you get to be that winner, the feeling must be incredible.

There's a reason people compare something good happening to "winning the lottery."

Everett's $250,000 win is not the biggest of 2024. As of April, the biggest winner was Israel P from Auburn who landed a cool million in March, according to the Maine Lottery.

As for the biggest win of all time from Maine? That would be the $1.3 billion Mega Millions ticket sold in Lebanon in 2023.

That monster money win is the sixth largest lottery win of all time, as of May 2024, according to U.S. News & World Report.
