Historypin.org has just released a collection of photos taken by John A. Waterman in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century showing Maine towns of Gorham, Kittery, Portland, Falmouth, and Yarmouth.

John Waterman was born in 1863, and was a graduate of Bowdoin College. He practiced law in Gorham, and enjoyed photography as a hobby.

This is the First Parish Congregational Church in Gorham, built 1798.

Here is a Gazebo and Spring House at Underwood Spring Park (now Falmouth Town Landing.) These photographs had to have been taken sometime between 1898 and 1907, when the park was destroyed by fire.
