Ted's Fried Clams will stay in Sanford, Maine, as they work to reopen the original location in Shapleigh.
After 72 years of one family owning Ted's, Jason Cole bought the seafood restaurant and has been working hard to make it a year-round seafood destination in Shapleigh.
But there was a fire in 2023, and Jason opened at Main Street Marketplace in downtown Sanford.

Sanford welcomed Ted's with open arms, and they are thrilled that this location won't be temporary, it will be permanent!
But don't worry, if you are still a fan of the original Ted's in Shapleigh, that's on track to open in early March 2025, according to Seacoat Online.
Why did Ted's Fried Clams in Shapleigh, Maine, close?
The reason is heart-wrenching. Jason lost his wife Laura unexpectedly in 2021, the fire was caused after a candle that was part of a small shrine to Laura, accidentally got knocked over in his office.
Ted's has been closed ever since. His restaurant has been closed longer than he wanted because of some permitting issues.

Jason has made it part of his mission to help those that keep him in business. That includes his new home in Sanford. Just one of the many projects he has is a free Thanksgiving meal!
There's one other surprise, according to Seacoast Online, he's added pizza to the Sanford menu because he inherited large ovens from the last occupant.
