The Q Bachelor John S. agreed to leave his dating life up to the Q Morning Show this Valentine's Day. John joined us on air for a week to interview three finalists who we hand-selected from a batch of over 30 eligible bachelorettes. The girls were selected based on common interests and compatibility. We let John take it from there.

The interviews were slightly awkward, as expected, but ultimately John made his selection based on similar educational background and general interests.

Here's how Melanie P. introduced herself in her application:

I am a single (obviously) 25-year old and have been living in Portland for about a year working downtown as a Health Data Analyst. I grew up in Cape Elizabeth as the oldest of 5 children attending Cape schools and eventually going on to earn a degree in physics and economics at Bowdoin College and then a Master of Engineering Management from Duke University. I am on the bowling team at work and my average is atrocious. I love dogs and would love to adopt one in the near future. I’m an Aries—I think that pretty much covers it.

Everyone was nervous as we setup for the date but as soon as John and Melanie arrived, the conversation started flowing.

David from David's Restaurant brought the entire evening to the next level. He helped decorate the room and brought everything the couple needed for a classy, romantic meal, right down to the table linens.

John and Melanie had conversation starters to get the talking going, but they didn't really need them. The two had tons in common and both were excited to be having this unique experience.

And then there was the food. David managed to cook an impressive, delicious meal all on one hot plate. He wheeled in his supplies on one hand truck and got right to work. Our conference room still smells like the sauces he used to simmer the filet mignon. Something tells me no one will care during our staff meeting later.

Thank you John and Melanie for being great sports and David for making the night perfect.

By the way, John and Melanie shared with us on The Q Morning Show today that they went out on a second date the next night and are currently in search of a noodle bar for their third date. Woohoo! Lori will book the church...
