In the Portland Press Herald  on Sunday, it was announced that there are 36 new cases of COVID 19 as the state is opening back up. No new deaths and slowing in hospital trips.

It also appears that we are looking to keep opening. Some consider that a blessing, others think it is Russian Roulette.

With cases on the rise, what we must do is remember what we have learned over the past few months, coupled with not losing sight of what it felt like to be on lockdown and keeping ourselves safe, so we don't end up back there.

Here are the rules that we must follow to avoid being stuck in the house again.

  1. Wear your mask. I know a lot of Mainers believe that not wearing a face covering is a God-Given right, but we do not have all of the facts. It is better to be safe than sorry.
  2. If you don't want to wear a mask, please stay away from relatives and friends that are immunocompromised. You are a bigger threat to them than you believe.
  3. Keep your circle small. If you are not dating or related to them, keep them at least six feet away; not everyone needed to be in your space even before the plague came
  4. Social distancing works if you are not sure how, ask an introverted friend.
  5. Wash your hands! I was in a public restroom last week in the office, and another person came, and I did not hear the sound of the water running as they opened the door and left. All I could think was, Have we not learned anything?!?!?

Is there anything that I left off this list? Please, by all means, let me know in the comments. Stay safe!
