This Neighborhood Restaurant in Portland Used to Be an Adorable Little Market
Ever heard of Red & White Food Stores? The building at 58 Pine Street in Portland was once a neighborhood market called Pine Street Market, and it was part of the Red & White Food Stores family.
The firm started in the late 1920s and supplied independent groceries stores around the country. Portland's own Red & White Food Store supplied the neighborhood with essentials and filled it's storefront windows with canned goods and sale signs.
Today, the storefront looks almost the same, but what's inside has changed a lot. Caiola's serves up a mix of Italian and comfort food in their quaint West End settling. This twist on chicken and waffles looks so good.
