This Remote Maine Waterfall is Worth the Hike
Who is ready for a hike? Little Wilson Falls is located in one of the most remote areas of the Appalachian Trail known as the 100-mile Wilderness. Once you see this unique waterfall, you'll know it's worth the trek.
Maine Woods Tourism says, "One of the highest waterfalls directly on the Appalachian Trail, Little Wilson’s upper falls plunge 39 feet into a dark, narrow chasm, with several additional ten foot falls a short distance below. The adjacent canyon walls have a remarkably angular appearance, unique among the area’s waterfalls."
The falls has two parts, the upper and lower. The upper portion has the angular rocky walls while the lower is perfect for swimming. The daring hiker could even venture onto the rocks for the perfect photo op but definitely use caution. It's a long way down the narrow chasm.
