Why Tic Taco’s Owners Are the Best Part of Portland, Maine’s Mexican Food Scene
It does, truly, make such a huge difference in the community when the owners of a popular restaurant are absolutely fantastic.
In this case, it's the owners of Tic Taco, a little Mexican take-out window located inside of One City Center in Portland, Maine.
The owners are the perfect example of loving what you do every single day, and it shows through everything they do and serve.
From the quality of their food to their kind interactions with their regular customers, Tik Taco is always a positive experience, and I'm really just here to give credit where credit is due. My favorite couple, the owners, Erica & George deserve the world for what they do for our little city every day, meeting us all with a smile first thing in the morning.
If you didn't already know this, they serve breakfast burritos in the earlier hours of the day that are hands down the best in the city. If you can catch them early enough since they're first come first serve for $5 each, you'll take one bite and know exactly what I'm talking about. Everything is homemade and never misses.
A quick feel-good story about the place: George (one of the owners) knows I drive a Jeep Wrangler, and one day had asked me what the term "ducking" meant in the Jeep world. I told him jeep owners collect rubber duckies, and when we see one parked, we leave one on their door handle to spread the fun.
Well, today I went downstairs from my studio to grab one of their famous breakfast burritos, and he said, "Krissy I have something for you!" It was a Mexican rubber duck, and I have never felt so surprised and happy all at the same time.
These people are simply the best, in every category. You can't beat great food made by great people. Thanks, Tic Taco for always being a positive light on a bad day, and a staple in our community, we love you!
