What Animal Is This?

I came across these prints on a small beach of a lake wayyyy up in Northern Maine. I swear it's some sort of animal...but what kind?

I googled bear cub, possum...close, but not really.

What could this be? I mean, it could be a bear cub, but mama bears give birth in January and February (I'm telling ya, I googled a lot!)

I need my animal experts to help me out here! What the heck kind of animal do these prints belong to?
