Maine Coast Animal Rescue has announced that they will accept several rescue dogs from Florida in order to make room at the southern shelter for more dogs who were displaced due to Hurricane Harvey in Texas. The dogs will arrive in Maine on September 13th and will be available for foster and adoption soon after.

Pet Lovers Polk County Rescue in Florida is working with Maine Coast Animal Rescue to make room for the animals at shelters in Texas who were displaced after the devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. Freeing up space in Florida means at risk dogs in Texas will have a better shot at finding a forever home.

Seven dogs will make their way to Maine, including 3-year old black lab Cocoa, 3-year old shepherd/husky mix Carpenter, and 2-year old Black Mouth Cur Sunny. These dogs, among others, will all need foster homes when they arrive in Maine.

If you can provide a stable, supportive home for one of these dogs, please contact Maine Coast Animal Rescue. If you are unable to foster but still want to help, consider donating food and supplies. Helping these dogs creates a chain reaction and allows rescuers to continue aiding the pups displaced by the flooding in Texas.
