Having a bit of a "ruff" day?

Topsham, Maine, Police Department recently added an adorable comfort dog to their team who is ready to help turn your day "paw-some."

Too much? Maybe. But when you see the photos of Garver, you'll also be feeling the puppy love.

Topsham, Maine, Police Department's New Comfort Dog, Garver

In April, the Topsham Police Department introduced its newest team member, Garver, on Facebook.

Garver is a 10-week-old English Labrador who was raised and trained by Boonefield Labradors in New Hampshire before he joined the department.

He will work with School Resource Officer Gabrielle Mathieu, offering support to Topsham students and making community appearances as well.

His mission? According to the Facebook post, Garver was brought on to provide comfort to children who have experienced trauma, calm anxiety, and even help connect the police department with community members of all ages.

Sure, he’s new to the job, but he's already a real pro at giving tail wags, cuddles, and smiles.

And you can see a number of super cute pics of the pup that will make you want to scoop him up and hold him close.

It's almost like he knows how to pose for the camera, too. Does he have his own version of Zoolander's "Blue Steel"?

What Does a Police Comfort Dog Do?

According to AT&T Connects, "comfort dogs work to ease the trauma for individuals impacted by violence, tragedy, or traumatic events."

Comfort dogs have become a growing part of police departments nationwide, and Topsham is now proudly joining those ranks. In fact, the Portland Police Department just added their own comfort dog, Archie, in April as well.

The AT&T Connects article notes that studies have shown that "interacting with animals can have a positive impact on these stressors and more."

Whether he’s at school or out on the town, Garver is working hard to make a difference and reminding us all how powerful a little comfort (and a wicked amount of cuteness) can be.

Welcome to the team, Garver!
